13K mile Conestoga

Postby Studeblu » 2009 Feb 11 Wed 9:55 pm

A couple weeks ago I attended the Gold Canyon Winter Studebaker meet.
In the Phoenix,AZ area. The pictures are of Malcom Stinson's 13K mile 54 Conestoga.
He just got it out of a 35 year climate control storage. It is absolutely beautiful.
and before the day was over I got to drive it about 70 miles and it drives like a new car.
All the things we expect in an old car like poor brakes and hard steering do not exist with this car.
Anyway I wanted share the pictures of this great car. I wish I could share the driving experience.

Malcom was at the NE Zone meet last year with his 1928 President. He is quite a character!

Yes he is quite a character and I am proud to call him a Friend.
He trailered the Conestoga to the meet to keep it a low mile car.
I drove my 37 President to the meet with no problems. On the way back
crap in my fuel tank broke loose and stranded me about 70 miles from home.
I had already used my 3 spare fuel filters and was dead in the water.
Then along came Malcom and said we need to unload the Conestoga
and put the 37 in the trailer and I would drive the Conestoga home.
That was the highlight of my day that car drives so great. Just driving it gave me
motivation to get going on my Conestoga.
Malcom is truly a credit to the great Studebaker comunity.
