Ted Harbit and the Chicken Hawk

2009 May 13 Wed 6:26 pm

For those that may have missed the latest info, one of the Studebaker staples for many years...Ted Harbit and his 51 (50?)"Chicken Hawk" Stude were in a bad crash last weekend.
Ted and that car go together back into the 50's

If interested, go here - http://racingstudebakers.com/stl-web/bu ... 71e9ff1583

Then look for the Chicken Hawk and Ted Harbit posts.

The car was destroyed, Ted's got a coupla moderate injuries...but will be ok.

Hey Mike ... I could not believe this when I saw it. A couple of way tuff old birds! He has been a role model in my life for so long. Dare to be different, think outside of the box; he never has let fear or common sense hold him back. Amazing that he has survived that carnage so well. I do hope that he makes a quick and complete recovery.

Here is a little something on Ted that I found that might be of interest.

I bought one of these at the charity auction for the Stude Museum at the national in Spokane in 2005. Paid a way more for it than this.

Well back to my racer as our season starts in 8 days and I have 10 days of preparation to do.

Here are a few more pics. Photos by James Keesling and posted on the Stude Drivers site.

Fills me with wonderment as to how tuff both the ole birds are.

Yea..thanks Al.
Saw those yesterday (maybe Monday?).

Some interesting pictures.
If you look at some of the people...kinda makes you think they're looked of some of the red stuff and thinking..no big deal cause there wasn't any..!?

Who, the medics? As a paramedic, I can tell you they were doing a good assessment of him before the moved him. Gotta use a lot of care with someone who's been through a "rough ride" like that, especially when the guy is older (he's 70+ if I understand correctly). It's not the red stuff that causes concern, it's the stuff you can't see that you worry about!

Steve (the paramedic!)

Oh-no...I was talking of the plain cloths adults and the kids.

No problems with the paramedics at all...I know who they are, and what they are there for..!
