VS57 Supercharger on a 55

Postby s2dwagon » 2009 May 31 Sun 7:28 pm

I have just aquired a VS57 Supercharger from my cousin. It was just recently rebuilt and is in good working order. Of course I need all the other hardware, etc., so I am not too close to the install. Has anyone on the forum done this before in a 55 wagon? I'm not sure about hood clearence for the air box or the charger itself. If any of you out there have done this or can shed any lite on this "upgrade", I'm all ears.

Thank you,

Scott

Not to worry...there's PLENTY...of room under the hood of a wagon. More than the Avantis and C-K cars.

At the Memorial Day show here in So. Cal., there was a 54 wagon with a factory supercharger...AND late model air conditioning. If I'da know before, I maybe could have gotten their contact info to help you.

The only thing I can say that might help is that the supercharger was right on the center line of the engine (+ or - a little!), right above the water manifold.

Sorry I can't help any more.
Good luck and have fun.

Very pretty sleeper but the louvers give a hint that something is not as it appears. Does the Huffer generate enough heat that it makes the louvers necessary?

Yep...that's the car.
Boy..they apparently do get around in that thing.
It was down from the Sacramento area for the La Palma meet...then back up.

Mike...Is that a 54 with a 55 front clip or just a slip on the keyboard?

I saw that rig at the Spokane National meet in 2005. Did not have the blower and louvers then but it was still just a gorgeous rig. Detailed to the 9's, all stock resto. Only saw Bob there once and that was just for a way short conversation. I would sure like to see some more of that unit.

Thanks for your posts. That is a very pretty 55. I too, saw that car in Spokane.

So, now that I know it will fit without modifications, I will start to aquire the necessary mounting hardware, etc. Do any one of you know a good place to start? The only thing I have is a supercharger, and some desire!

Thanks,

Scott
