Dimension Needed

Postby hi-per al » 2011 Feb 07 Mon 10:21 pm

You cunning linguists give me a chuckle.

I am looking for some help on a dimesion for the lower tailgate on my Connie. What I need is a measurement on the lower tailgate rubber seal channel that is part of the rear floor pan. Top part of this channel has a rad in it and the bottom is flat. I need to replace the flat lower lip and I need to know how far it stands out. Does it come flush with the body or is it below that height?

Mine has been attacked by very severe rust and as such there is no witness to give me a hint on how far to stand it of the back of the floor pan. Also my 2 parts cars are so buried in pack ice and snow that I may see them by July.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx...Al

I can get your dimension(s)...if I knew/understood what you wanted..!

Ok...
1. "Lower tail gate seal channel"..Got that.
2. That is part of the rear floor pan.....???? These are two different parts..?
3. "Top part of the channel has a "rad" in it." Sorry...what's a "rad" ?
4. "And the bottom is flat"...?
5. What lower lip that stands out...?

I'm freaken lost here..
Body dimensions or tailgate dimensions ? All the way around...or...
And what lower lip ?

I think I need a drink..! And it is lunch time (almost !)

Please, let me interject here.

Where are we going for lunch ? Do they have a Bar ? Who will be the designated driver that will get me home tonight ?

Oh yeah, could Rad be short for Radius ?

Forget lunch, I've already started.

Roger....

PS: I think it, the requested description, may have something to do with the COLD, SNOW AND MIND ALTERING BEVERAGES of the Great White North. Al ? Or, maybe it has something to do with different Dialects of the Queen's English, AH ?

We, Mike and the rest of us in the lower 48, need to remember Canada's National Sport is Fighting and Knocking Teeth Out while disguising it as something called Hockey. GO REDWINGS !!!!!

Just joking.

Please be advised:

Previous Post above this one, has little or nothing to do with original Post. Just the ramblings of a confused old man on the Internet while eating lunch with nothing else to do.

O.K guys I am trying with the description. Yeah I know very trying! Hopefully I can clear some of my shortcomings up.

Mike ...I thought that the lower seal channel is attached to the spare tire floor pan.
As Roger has stated rad is radius which is the top of this rubber channel.
Bottom of this channel is flat and extends rearward from the rear floorpan to close to the body back at this position.
Lower lip refers to the channel bottom.
I will forward a pics of this area.
Question is how close?

Roger...Queens English is Eh!
Cant argue Hockey with ya as we have the Oilers as our hockey team. In a past life that meant something. For the last 3 or 4 years they like toilet paper wipin up the rear.
Send me your email and I will forward you photos. My addy is ffr@interbaun.com.

Al;

Glad to have been able to help. We few Conestoga Owners need to stick together and help each other.

" Houston? " " We have a problem! "

I now have a very small idea how hard it must have been for our Astronauts to make repairs in space while talking to Engineers in Houston. Fortunately the Engineers were not Unionized. Ha!!!

" Yeah Commander? " " We'll get back to you after our Lunch Break! "
