What the hell are they putting in the drinking water in Downey?

Well to be honest, I think that I'll make them a offer that they will not be able to pass up.

I've just decided to sell our wonderful property in Chihuahua Valley. 3 plus acres with a 2,200 sq. ft. single level home with attached garage 26' x 36' with 12' high ceiling. Sale includes all furniture in home and 7 1/2 HP, 80 Gal. Air Compressor.

Asking price for property $1,000,000.00. Will adjust price to $950,000.00 plus the 57 Studebaker Station Wagon. What a DEAL!!!!

Waiting for contact from Studebaker Owner. How long do you think it will take for them to contact me ?

Yours Truly.
Another Dreamer.

They got back to me in one day.

It seems the add has been pulled. Someone posted it on the SDC site, I went to look....been "pulled", no specific reason.
Will look again over the weekend to see if it's back up.

Oh man...and I need the money too...!

I wrote them back...told them they were about 10x too high with their asking price.
And that "my Conestoga, which there is fewer of...still cost WAY less (less than half) than your asking price."
No comments back this time..

Oh well...maybe they just got fed up and decided to hang onto it....""I'll never sell if for less than half the $35,000..! It's too good a car to give away for free...""

More power to'em..

Some folks in California seem pretty proud of thier stuff. Wouldn't take half? $17 K is a giveaway?

I thought that this Arkansas rig was some spendy but this Downey fella wants the bank.

Winternationals...changen the subject here huh...?

Actually, yea, I went Thursday. The original plan was to go Friday, but with the strong possibility of rain, my boss was ok with me swapping Friday for Thursday.
One word..."COLD". When the clouds let the sun shine thru...it was very nice, but when the clouds obscured the sun..it got real cold, real fast.

New paint, new sponsers, a few returning drivers, a few less teams and drivers.
Overall, a nice day, though if the weather woulda been a bit warmer, I would have stayed longer. I've got a coupla friends out there racing. One that I stop by to see twice a year. He normally puts me to work within the first 10 minutes of showing up. Well because of the cold...I didn't stop by to say hi this time. This was much easier than saying hi and then by....before he put me to work..!

This is the friend that builds Turbo 200's (200-4R's also) for racing. He's got the 200's (three speed) to hold up to over 700hp, and the 4R's to about 550hp.

Not trying to hijack this thread much.

So what is COLD to you? Coldest that I have ever run my racer is 39F and I was scared to death about sneezing it. Looks like Dixon's crew figured out the chilly environment. Must be frigid or wet as the NHRA site at this time is showing this event as completed.

There was a couple of rigs there from my neck of the woods. Don St.Arnaud in TAD and Ken Webster in AFC. It looked like they both got in around the middle of thier fields.

Good thing for Google being my Pal. Helped me understand your Turbo 200 comments.

What type of cars is your pal running? Is there a 550-700 hp Stude lurking at Pomona?

Hey Al -

Cold to me...no clue what the temp. was. All I know is, most everyone was in heavy jackets and many had lotsa layers on that came off and went back on as the sun shown. Lotsa hooded sweatshirts.
Na...it wasn't anywhere near any 39 degrees...!

Turbo 200's....na Scott doesn't even know what a Stude is..!
He started modifying the T-200 WAY back when he had a Buick V-6 powered D/ED. I kept telling him to dump the powerglide, that the little 272 inch Buick needed some more gear ratio help.
I met him when we both worked at B&M Transmissions...MANY, MANY yeras ago.
He finally started working the T-200 till he got one to stay together behind the little Buick.

Now he's running C/ED with a 304 Dodge running 7.30's/7.40's (normally). He builds the T-200's for a bunch of Comp. Elim. cars and a hand full of Stock and Super Stock cars.

His first T-200-4R was one for me. Gotta get another one from him...

Gotta go...the races are finally on TV.

700 HP Studebaker ?

Try Racingjunk.com there was a 53 advertised with either a 700 HP or 1,000 HP set up. Best I could remember for right now.

No, it did not have a Studebaker engine.
