Hi everyone Im new to this forum. Im finishing my last tour in the Army (35 Years) and will return home to Idaho in about a year. I recently purchased a 55 Conestoga six cyl 3 speed car to keep me busy when I get home. I have had other Studes and still have a 53 PU(R1 Powered). I would like to find a V8 Powertrain for the wagon preferably with a manual trans and a Dana 44. Even better if I could find one of the GM bolt pattern bellhousings as Id like to use a Borg Warner T5 trans. Any body have any Ideas.

PS I have Bill Cathcarts fixtures to make split exhaust mainfods for the chamion six and would be willing to make a few if anyone is interested,

Thanx Knute

Welcome Knute,

Thank you for your service to our country. I am also retired military, 24 years USAF. I suggest you search out a parts car. I found a '64 Cruiser for less than $500 and am using the 289 4V, Dana 44 and all the front suspension and 11" finned brakes. All this is going into my '54 Conestoga. I was also able to sell many other parts to recoup my investment. Good luck on your project and keep us posted.

Pat

Hey Pat (Knute) -

While not 500 bucks...I offered up my 55 Conestoga as a parts car with all his needs, within...no answer..!? It could easilly be made up into a nice running car too.. Most all of the brightwork is there and in good condition, the drive train is complete. It's main problem is that it needs a right side quarter panel....and I just happen to have that too..

Oh well..

Mike
