My Conestoga on the drag strip

Well, I finally made a pass down the track with my wagon a week or two ago.

A 14.30 with the tires spinning past half track. It should run in the 10 sec. bracket when I get it hooked to the track.

Now....for all of you wondering what the hell I'm talking about..........

There's a guy making resin Conestoga bodies in 1/24th (1/25th) scale. Combine that with the 53 Studebaker hard top AMT model to get the rest of the parts....and youv'e got a Conestoga model.

I did that one better. There's a new slot car track not too far from me. They have a drag strip.... along with three road courses.
The "first"...car I built was the wagon. Painted it with touch up paint from the real version.

When I say it ran 14.3....that's in slot car terms, it actually ran the scale quarter (about 55 feet) in 1.43 seconds. Yes, just a bit less than a second and a half. They just move the decimal over for a more realistic sounding e.t.

Hopefully I can get it in the 1.00 or even less thAn 1 second with some work. Of course there "are" motors that WILL get it going that fast.....what...who said lots-a-money!!

Roger's seen it.

Yep, I have seen it and let me tell you, Mike has got some talent when it comes to soupin' up those Studebakers. Big and small......
Wonder which one will be in the 10.s first ?
Mike, I found a resin body kit also. Don't think I'll be doing anything with it for awhile but at least I've got one.
I need to get started on the wife's 47 Mercury and help the youngster up the street with his first vehicle. He got a 57 Chevy Pick-up for his 16th. birthday.

I'll take some this weekend. It's supposed to be nice outside...FINALLY....
I'll send them to you to put in what ever section you want.

Hey...very cool site on the tether cars.
I had no idea they raced them in Viet Nam! One of those things you never hear about, except from others....like this.

I've seen them in various states of repair (or disrepair!!), but never seen them run.

Said the halffast one...

And says I...

Cool!! I been waiting for them (pics) and trying to imagine what my car would look like without windows...

I mean filled with steel, not just missing windows. I already know what that looks like... 8)

That is very cool!! Looks to have the doors from a coupe/hardtop? I like the sweep of the window frame off the rain gutter...
