forum problems .... virus protection

Postby BRIZ » 2008 Nov 05 Wed 8:05 am

sorry for the delay.... i went out of the country all month.
i've been getting a few messages from users about virus protection software preventing access to this forum....
i have no idea why your software would be doing this and i am open to solutions if you find any more out about this issue....
on my end, everything looks fine... although i don't use virus software, only a hardware firewall/router, and i haven't gotten a virus in years.

let me know

thanks!

Very strange...

I sent you a note yesterday from your other site, about not being able to get on the Conestoga site because of a "buffer overload" or something like that.

I haven't been able to get on from work for a long time...but that's how I'm on now...!

So...now...I CAN get on from work...but NOT from home! I have McCaffy at home. Don't recall what's the virus checker here at work is.

I was sent a topic reply that had a bug in it. Here's the copy of that email. Sorry, but it wouldn't give me full headers...

that message is normal, the bug is not.
if anyone can give me any details on what bug in the e-mail or what virus is being blocked when attempting to get on the forum, that would help me search on how to fix it.

Briz -

As I noted in my post above, mine told me it was "blocking a buffer overload", and then would not load the forum page.
No idea what that means !

Here at work...it takes a long time to load the forum page, but it eventually does. The rest of the pages load quickly as they would normally.

I sure wish people would leave this site alone!
And thanks for trying to keep up with all the problems.

Wow...Howdy folks! Good to see that folks are still here. I dont know what is up with this site but today is the first time in ages that my Snortin Norton has let me on the forum page. Norton sees everthing fine except for the forum. Having said that it takes me 23 seconds to go from page to page and function to function here on the forum. May limit my participation here until I can figure it out but at least I can get this Far.

Yep, My Norten kicked it to the curb too, but it seems to go in just fine now. I get the extended load times as well.
