Antenna location

Postby s2dwagon » 2010 Mar 08 Mon 9:19 am

Friends,

I have an NOS left front fender on my ‘55 I just installed. It’s a flat window model and I want to drill the hole for an antenna. Can someone measure, from the corner of fender by the door and tell me how far back (toward the front) the hole should be?

Thanks,

Scott

I can tell you where my 54 is tonight.

My 55 is a curved windshield.

Mike,

If it's easier to measure from the front (head light door/bezel) back, that's ok too.

Thanks.

Scott -

I just realized...I forgot to measure the antenna location.
No excuse's...will do tonight. Got something else to do in the garage as soon as I get home tonight...so the first thing will be measuring both cars.

Ok...

These numbers are from the headlight end of the fender, NOT including the bezel.
These are to the center of the antenna.

55, curved windshield - 48.75"
54, flat windshield - 49.00"

Either way, they are pretty close to each other.

Hope this helps

Didn't they have a retractable antenna on the Driver Side? A knob under the dash that you could twist to raise and lower the antenna?

Hope someone agrees since I don't want to try and find the one that was on mine.

Or is it just me being old and not remembering which Antenna was on which of the 50 odd vehicles I've had. Ha!!!
