What is the correct stock 54 mirror?

Postby BRIZ » 2023 Oct 02 Mon 8:06 pm

I'm trying to slap a stock mirror on the drivers side of my 54.
I'm guessing the #1 holes in this pic are the stock mirror position - but the body is quite concave in this spot.
Would the stock mirror here have a convex base?

Spot #2 is where my 16 year old dumb ass self put some dorky/sporty aftermarket mirror on when I was in high-school.

I can't find my parts # catalog.
Is the AC-2728 Super-Vue the correct mirror?
Will it fit correctly on the concave body at the #1 spot?

Thanks - Hope you are all well.

The SCTA decal is cool !!

I'll take a look at my cars tomorrow.

Actually, from memory...the two holes starting at the rear, #2 location, and the forward unmarked hole "looks" to be the correct locations.
But yeah, I'll double check tomorrow (Tuesday).

As for the mirror itself, have you checked the "Studebaker International" catalogue ?
The Super View" name sounds right, but they could have several different ones with that name. I may have an older catalogue, plus I have a 54 manual, it "may" have a part number.

oh nice - thanks!
yours looks like the AC-2340 - i'll try to order that one.

the other AC-2728 was not in stock at Stude Int.
(their site said the AC-2728 was in stock but they called me and said no can do)
i like the looks of the AC-2340 like yours better anyway.

Shots of both my 54 wagons. Yeah, both severely need baths !!
And shot #2, don't know which is factory, but, they are inline as far as height on the door.
By looking at the mirror location, of the four holes, it looks like the rearmost holes are factory.
BUT...in my Stude (and others) experience, out of 10 Conestogas...i'd be willing to bet four or five would be in different locations.

Nice.
That shows me that I'm on the right path with the AC-2340.
Thanks Mike!
