Anyone out there in Conestoga (sedan) land have a clean to sorta clean right side grill bar with clean working light socket ?
Mine has a bad socket.
Thanks

Never mind...
I removed the bad bulb socket, and will buy just a new socket. I just hope it will lock into place !

How do you get the socket in and out? About to deal with that when I get the LH grill in. Also, for future reference, have previous grill bars for sale reasonable. They would qualify as "sorta clean", good for a driver. Look great at dusk!

Hey Main -
Well, there's a couple of ways.
1 - If you are "replacing" the socket - a small sharp chisel or screwdriver and a light hammer will do the job quickly. Just put the sharp edge between the socket flange and the housing, then tap on the chisel to open or push the flange toward the center of the socket. Go all the way around until it falls out.
Took me about 2-1/2 minutes. No damage to the housing.
2 - If you want to keep the socket. Then you have to get behind the socket, and tap it out toward the front with a hammer. Friction is all that holds it in place.
Unfortunately, I musta looked at 15 different, 1157 sockets yesterday, only one seemed even close. I took it home, it's a little too small to fit tightly !! Will have to keep looking.
I found a bad thing. I've bought some electrical parts from Stude vendors. Some have been marginal, and some not even usable . Out of six or seven items that I bought from a known Stude vendor, only two were usable without extra work.
Just a heads-up !
Just be sure that you have a free return policy with anything that you buy.

Another thing, all of the panel fittings, the bumper etc. is very clean and square. No crooked, offset or excessive gaps.
Seems that most of the 53 - 54 cars with the various curves, seem to be difficult to get matched...well / correctly. I've seen some higher end rebuilds that don't look as good as this car.

Just occurred to me that I never posted the finished product. Found a paint and body guy working out of his unimpressive one car garage in rural KY. However, he is obsessive and meticulous which trumps workspace. Took several months and I can honestly say it is flawless, other than the tailgate. Price was $3500. Ended up selling it because 1) I was nervous about getting a scratch and 2) the 232 V8 with automatic was underwhelming.

Ummm...did I read that correctly ?
All that work, a nicely done car, and you...sold it ? Hope it's far enough away that you don't have to see it driving down the street !
Put the 232 in a corner somewhere, and build a 259 for it.
Oh well, nicely done in any case.
And thanks for posting your pictures.
